The clients wanted a Japanese aesthetic for the design of their back garden in Pudsey.
The existing back garden consists of a raised level of gravel retained by ugly walls and this forms the current view from the living room. A pergola or gazebo and water feature also formed part of the brief.
The proposed design consists of a patio and slate path leading from the patio doors to a new sunken garden. This will be a new social space accessed by a single step up, from slate.
The ground of this space will be permeable made from resin bound gravel on a permeable sub base.
Steps from this space lead to the higher level where the gazebo is part of a circular path terminating in a water feature. The gazebo offers a shaded area for sitting and reading. The water feature is to be a small cascade of water over natural rocks.
At the lower level near the garage there will be a moss garden, kept damp by the drainage from the higher level.
The whole garden is to be surrounded with new fencing and matching wooden gates.
