The customer is a keen gardener and wanted the front garden designed using a naturalistic style of planting. The planting has to offer year round colour and interest. A patio large enough to seat a group of up to six people was also needed.
The Ash tree creates much shade and planting is challenged in that area of the garden. The raised beds which will be created from wooden sleepers, offer a depth of soil that will help plants establish well.
The circular lawn is to be surrounded by black limestone setts. These reflect the local service roads constructed of stone cobbles. The black limestone is a stone material preferred by the customer and the intention is to also use this to edge the patio and form the steps.
The whole design will fit around the existing path (which will be widened) and established border of shrubs.
Following the build in late summer Essence Garden Design will work with the client to create an exciting planting palette re-using some of the existing plants the customer wishes to save.
Update: The garden has been built by Anthony Jones of Vision Landscapes Design and Build Ltd. The customer has decided to really get immersed in the garden and do the planting herself. We are totally flexible and quite happy to see this level of engagement. Looking forward to see the results.
